Simple Fruit Salad
Eat it for breakfast, dessert or just because
Dessert doesn’t have to mean cake, pastry, HEAVY. There are some delicious desserts that do not even entail baking, and this is one of them. Summer is the perfect time of year for gathering fresh, juicy fruits that can be turned into sensational desserts. This succulent summer dish can be done in advance, placed in the fridge and served upon request. Make it with your family and enjoy all the flavors that the summer season has to offer, together. Add fresh whipped cream for a cool finish.
Ingredients:
1 cup of pineapple pieces
1 cup of kiwi slices
1 cup of raspberries
1 cup of blackberries
4 mint leaves
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 cup of water
Preparation:
1. To a 2 quart saucepan add the sugar and water. Bring to a boil, then immediately lower the heat to medium-low. It will only take a few minutes for it to become a syrup. The mixture of equal parts of sugar and water following this process is called a simple syrup. When ready, turn off the stove and cool down.
2. In the meantime, add all the fruit to a medium bowl. Add the syrup, and ensure all fruit is coated. Place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes in order for the fruit to chill, then serve.
